Trump orders firing of all attorneys appointed during Biden's tenure

President Donald Trump has ordered the firing of all remaining U.S. attorneys appointed by former President Joe Biden. He issued the order on Tuesday.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "The U.S. Justice Department has been politicized like never before in the past four years. That's why I have ordered the firing of all remaining attorneys appointed during the Biden era."

Trump also wrote, "In this golden age of the United States, there must be a transparent judiciary, which begins today."

In the United States, federal prosecutors are known as U.S. attorneys. It is common in the United States that after a new president takes office, they remove the attorneys appointed by the previous president. They appoint someone else in their place.

There are 93 U.S. attorneys in the 94 federal district courts in the United States. Each attorney is responsible for one district court, but there are two district courts, which are handled by one attorney.

Attorneys in each district are considered the top federal law enforcement officials.

After Trump was elected president in November last year, several attorneys appointed during the Biden administration resigned.

Trump has complained that the Biden-led Justice Department has unfairly prosecuted him. Trump has been quick to make sweeping changes to the Justice Department since taking office. Many high-ranking officials have been fired, promoted, or reappointed.

Among those fired are members of the office of former special counsel Jack Smith. Jack Smith led two criminal cases against Trump. However, those cases have now been dismissed.

The acting US attorney for the Southern District of New York resigned last week. He was appointed during the previous Trump administration. He resigned after the Justice Department asked him to drop corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams.
